[Bro] problem installing bro ids

Hi, I'm an university student that is doing a research project on bro, however I'm having some difficulties installing bro by using cygwin. So, I'm wondering if it is possible to install bro onto a windows computer, if yes, please explain the instructions; if no, well I just wanted clarification so I don't continually try. Also if it is possible to install using cygwin, the main problem i have is the use of the pcap library and how to use it correctly since windows uses winpcap.
