We can revise as needed, but it strikes me as a good start.
Hey! My name is Sam Messinger. I am an avid user of Zeek (although still
very much a beginner). I'm an agent with the Secret Service in DC, and we
use your product in one of our projects on about 10 or so networks.
I've also read Mr. Bejtlich's books, so I'm familiar with his work.
Even though I'm a "newbie" still to computers and cybersecurity, I do have
an engineering background as a nuclear officer in the US Navy.
I would like to help in any way I can and donate some time to the Zeek
project. Besides the "editing" skills I can lend, it will help me (and
force me!) to learn more about the Zeek project.
Thank you for your consideration! If you need any more background or
information about me, please let me know.
